Shelter Support Team

The primary purpose of the Medical Reserve Corps (MRCSA) Shelter Support Team is to assist the American Red Cross of Southern Arizona in local and regional shelter operations when needed. We are building this team to be able to assist in several ways:

Shelter Support Team

Disaster Health Services

MRCSA volunteers with an active U.S. license in one of the following disciplines may support Disaster Health Services (DHS):

  • Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Medical Doctor (MD)

  • Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)

  • Certified Nurse Practitioner       (CNP)

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) 

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

  • Paramedics

  • Physician’s Assistant (PA)

Disaster Mental Health

· Volunteers who are interested in deploying to a Shelter Situation as Disaster Mental Health (DMH) must have one of the following credentials:

  •  Licensed Mental Health Workers     in Psychology, Social Work,   Marriage and Family Therapy,     and Counseling.

  • Certified School Counselors

  • ·Professionals as above without a current license who have retired in the past 5 years who have   had an unencumbered license

  • Psychiatric RN’s with at least two years’ experience

  • Anyone deploying under DMH must have at least a master’s degree
